On the late night of March 2nd local time, a senior advisor to the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that the Strait of Hormuz has been completely closed and warned that any ships attempting to pass through the Strait would be attacked.

This is a clear threat issued by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps against shipping in the Strait of Hormuz since they informed ships on February 28 that the exit route through the Strait had been closed.

It is reported that the war insurance company is canceling the insurance policies that had been arranged previously and were intended for future voyages through this strait. They are now shifting all the risks of this short-distance voyage to the shipowners.

This decision indicates that the insurance guarantee association and the insurance companies believe that the uncertainty caused by the attacks in Iran is extremely high, and at present it is impossible to determine a reasonable premium rate.

The cancellation of war insurance coverage will come into effect on March 5th. The coverage area includes Iran and its waters, the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, etc.

The associations that issued the cancellation notices include: Gard, Skuld, NorthStandard, Lloyd's of London Insurance Association, American Shipowners Mutual Association and Steamship Mutual.
